Thursday Home Tour ~ It Could Be Yours

This week's home tour takes us to the "Birthplace of Rock and Roll" where Elvis Presley began his recording career, Memphis Tennessee.  Welcome to the Richwood Estate.  This property sits back off the road on 2 + acres with beautiful trees and gardens.

Built circa 1837, the Richwood Estate is a dogtrot style home with hand hewn cypress logs and cypress floors.  The home has 4 original fireplaces and boasts many 1860 handmade details such as the stairs, columns, railings, trim, metal locks and many other original features.

The grand foyer and loft were built in 1860 connecting the two sides of the home.  There are 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 3,800 sq. ft.

Let's count...there are seven different seating options in this room and each has different upholstery.  A bit formal but not too fussy...what do you think?

One of the features I really like in this home is the wood stove with brick surround.  I imagine this is a wonderful room to curl up with a good book on a cold winter's day.  The black and white cat looks comfy.

This kitchen has lots of character and a wonderful layout.  I especially like the antique butcher block.

The washer and dryer is in the kitchen, which isn't ideal, but in these old homes these quirky arrangements seem a little more acceptable.  The beautiful all glass cabinetry with lace inserts draws your eye up taking the focus off of the in-kitchen-laundry room.

What do you think about this home?
It is located at 4375 Old Forest Road in Memphis Tennessee and it could be yours for $254,900.

Join us each week for Amaze Me Monday...

  1. What a great old house..and the history in that area is so great. It's a fun house and kind of funky, too, which I like. Not crazy about the washer/dryer arrangement but some things you just have to work with. This was a great tour, Cindy. xo Diana
