Thursday Home Tour ~ It Could Be Yours!

Just a smidgen more than an hour from Asheville, NC, is an amazing property nestled in the dappled shade of mountain woodland.

Located in the heart of Sunset, SC, this historic 1920 mountain retreat is located minutes from downtown shopping, restaurants, hiking, fishing, boating, golfing, horseback riding, Rocky Bottom Creek and the Jocassee Gorges Heritage Preserve.

Entering the stately stone column gate to the long, curved drive bordered by stone is like stepping back in time.
(There is a little twist at the end, so keep reading.)

This over 90 year old retreat sits on 9+ acres and includes mountain streams, creeks, a trout stocked pond, mature trees as well as a courtyard with a horseshoe pit and picnic area.

There are a total of three cabins on this property; 8 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 3,466 sq. ft.

The main cabin has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and sleeps 6-8 people.  There is a full kitchen, dining room, living room, loft and the original stone fireplace.

The large wrap around porch is perfect for dining or just relaxing in a rocking chair while enjoying the surrounding nature.

The second cabin is located over the two car garage.  The loft offers 3 bedrooms, 1 bath and sleeps 5.

The third cabin has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen, two balconies and sleeps 6-7 people.
There is also a honeymoon suite on the lower level of this cabin with 1 bedroom, 1 bath, a private balcony and a separate stone path entrance.

This retreat is being sold furnished and was originally placed on the market for $498,000 but is currently being offered for only $399,999.

Don't want to buy?  You can vacation here for a minimum 2 night stay at an average of $171 nightly!

To me, this property is amazing!  It has been on the market for over a year and I can't imagine why it hasn't sold; but then I read this...

A former family compound, built circa 1925, consisting of 3 cabins.  The property has an interesting history; it is alleged to be haunted by Nancy the Ghost; we can't confirm or deny her presence.

A haunted house.
Would you buy it or vacation here?
That would be a deal breaker for me...I'm too chicken!

  1. Wow, spectacular place! Seems like a great price for all those building, but then there's Nancy. I would not be excited to stay there. Dianne
