Amaze Me Monday #163

Hi Sweet Friends, I'm so glad you are here for AMAZE ME MONDAY!

A Heartfelt Note...

We were having a great time at our annual girls mother's day beach week with our moms, aunts, siblings, cousins, and daughters.  One of my sisters had had to leave early Wednesday morning to be home for her husband to head out early Thursday morning for a hunting trip; they have a farm and she had to be there to tend to the animals.

After arriving home, she spent the afternoon helping her hubby around the farm and noticed he kept belching.  She asked him if anything was wrong and was told it had been going on for a few days.  He didn't think it was anything serious (he's a doctor) and even though it was frequent and causing her concern, he didn't want to go get it checked out.  He told my sister that he did a search on "Google" for belching and found it related to excess gas, heartburn and acid reflux; but nothing serious.  Little did they know a few hours later he would have a heart attack and he is now no longer with us.

I hear this so often;
an odd pain or feeling is left unchecked,
not deemed serious enough to go to the doctor and now that person is gone.
Please, please...if you ever experience something out of the ordinary that causes you the slightest bit of concern or your loved one asks you to get something checked out by a doctor...please do.
It would be much better to be sent back home with a doctor saying there is nothing wrong than to let it go; it's not worth losing your life.

Love to all!

  12. Cindy,
I was deeply saddened to hear of your Sister's Husbands passing, dear friend!
I remember, all too well, that feeling of helplessness when "Mr. Ed"
suffered a stroke nearly two years ago.
May God grant your family His comfort and His peace at this difficult time in your lives.
    Fondly,
    Pat

Your advice to check out any unusual symptoms is so true! Often heart attacks can come with varied symptoms beside chest pain.

  18. So sorry for your loss. I have heard of that years ago. A gentleman in our community thought he had heart burn, and back then people would drink baking soda/water to relieve it. He did that, but a few minutes later he was gone. We never know!

    Thanks for hosting.

  19. Amen, Cindy!!!! That the exact same thing that happened to our friend, Tom, about a year ago....a feeling of fullness and gastric distress. He got up in the middle of the night and dropped dead in his living room- his wife found him the next morning. She had tried to talk him into going to the doctor that day but he refused. So sad.... I am so sorry for your sister- it is just tragic that he is gone and she now has to pick up the pieces and move forward with her life. Blessings to her and all of you. xo Diana

  22. I don't have any posts to link this week, but I read your note and wanted to stop in and say that I was sorry to read about the loss in your family and that it's such good advice. It never hurts to get it checked out. My daughter ate a tube of sunscreen chapstick - I had no idea what was in it - so immediately took her to the ER. We waited for nearly 6 hours, while she happily played in a waiting room full of very sick children, to hear the ok from the poison control. I felt foolish, but relieved, and was reminded that the health of our nearest and dearest is what matters most. Take care and sending prayers for healing to your family.
