When the Doorbell Rings...

You may remember my sharing that after the Christmas decorations came down I began a top to bottom cleaning of the whole house with the kitchen being first on my list.  When I'm in this mode I hit the floor running as early as possible, throwing on my sweatpants, sweatshirt, putting my hair in a ponytail and of course there is no time for makeup...I've got to get it done!

It was late afternoon by now and I was still busy as a bee, cleaning and doing laundry too.  I had just carried a load of folded clothes upstairs and was beginning to put them away when the doorbell rang.  Oh my!  If you are like me and it's one of those days when the focus is on cleaning and you've been at it all day and look a mess, and the doorbell rings, and the last thing you want to do is show your face looking the way you do, and the dog is barking like there is no tomorrow...well, I feel a little panic!  I begin asking myself, "Who in the world could it be and why are they ringing my bell today, of all days?!"

I scurry over to the front bedroom window, opening the blind just enough so I can see whose there without them seeing me, intending on just finding out who it is because there is no way am I going to answer it smelling like Clorox and looking a mess!  As I look down at the movement on the porch I can see a fella holding a gorgeous bouquet of flowers.  I mutter, "Oh my goodness," as I quickly have a change of heart and decide that I will definitely be opening the door!  I'm wondering if my sweetheart sent me flowers; he is always doing such kind things for me, but with Christmas just passing I can't imagine they are from him?  The doorbell continues to ring, so I rush to lay the clothes down, sweep Ellie-Mae up into my arms to quiet her barking and head down the stairs.

My Mister happens to arrive back home and reaches the porch at the same time I'm opening the door.  I look at both he and the delivery man saying, "Oh my, they are gorgeous, but do you have the wrong house?"  My hubby quickly chimes in saying, "Sorry honey, they aren't from me."  We were assured by the delivery guy that the address is correct and we could now see my name written on the card, so I sign for this gorgeous bunch of flowers and bring them inside.

I'm wondering who they could be from.  My heart is all excited.  They are so pretty and smell amazing and I'm really starting to feeling special!  I place them down on the keeping room table, remove the card from the holder and it reads, "Thank You, and enjoy the flowers."

And
that's
when
I
remembered...
FTD was sending me flowers!

It was early December when Brett contacted me asking if FTD could send me some flowers to welcome in the New Year.  Of course, I was more than willing!

With the Christmas rush, New Year's celebrations and then jumping into my top to bottom house cleaning, I completely forgot they were to be delivered the first week of January!

I've placed the arrangement in the keeping room where our family and friends are still gathering after the holidays.  Beautiful flowers with such a sweet aroma; the perfect way to usher in the New Year!

When the doorbell rings and you are handed a gorgeous bouquet of flowers it makes you feel amazing!  It brightens your day, lifts your spirit and makes you feel so very special.

This floral arrangement is the Tranquil Bouquet Deluxe by FTD.

On Sunday, three days after delivery, my husband commented that the arrangement looked even prettier than when first delivered with the roses opening more and the snapdragons standing even taller than before.
It's now Tuesday, five days after delivery, and they are still gorgeous with only the small pink tea roses beginning to fade a bit.

Sending a flower arrangement is a beautiful way to make someone feel special.
Especially when it's a surprise; even if it wasn't supposed to be.

  2. They are gorgeous! Love the colors and love your story. I know what it's like when you are cleaning and suddenly it's late in the day and you are still a mess. (As I am sitting here still in my pajamas!) I used to always shower first thing in the morning but I have gotten into a different routine where I attempt to get every single thing done before showering. Maybe I better hop in now - before my door bell rings! Have a great day!

  13. The flowers are lovely and while I love looking at flowers, I'm not a "pay for flowers" person. I want something that will last longer, that I don't have to watch shrivel up, die and be thrown away.
