Company was coming and I was on a mission to free up some extra closet and drawer space in the guest rooms. The upstairs guest room got a major redo last summer, going from dark brown walls to light walls and new white bedding too; it looks so much better now.
When redoing this room I had planned on reupholstering the vanity stool, but I forgot about it. We don't use this room unless company is coming and when cleaning the house it would briefly come to mind again, but I would move on to the next room to clean. I guess it was a case of out of sight, out of mind.

Here's a glimpse of how the guest room looked before:
And this is what it looks like now:
This is the vanity stool, with old and worn fabric needing to be replaced.
While freeing up space in the closet I came across some remnant fabric that I used to make drapes for the great room and that's when it hit me. This fabric would be perfect for the vanity stool, so I got busy.
This old fabric is so ugly!
There were two different fabrics on the stool and lots of rusty tacks to remove.
The new fabric is Kravet Guinevere Festival Toile with a French farmhouse pattern that will go great in this guest room.
All done and it makes such a difference.
It looks much better, don't you think?
I finally found a vanity stool for the guest bath, can't wait to share it with you.

You are right...what a difference a small little change can make. It looks beautiful, as well as the rest of your lovely guest room. May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving, Cindy!
ReplyDeleteI love toile (twall) pattern material
ReplyDeleteI am working on getting my bedroom wall papered in toile paper to match my valance and bed coverlet
Oh yes, indeed it does.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with Toile! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat looks lovely. I have a piece of the same fabric in my sewing as I pick up a lot of toile in antique malls to make things! The room looks fresh and pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove it all Cindy! I especially love to see others using antiques in natural stain! So pretty and cozy, love the fabric on your re-do too!
ReplyDeleteThat fabric looks great and has so much personality! What a nice little change :)

ReplyDeleteIt all looks so warm and inviting and I love toile fabric!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteThe room does look better with lighter walls, very nice! And your stool looks great too! Is that a piano bench? I have not seen one shaped like that before, I really like it.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Gina
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteYou transferred your room from beautiful to even more beautiful! I love the lighter look and the mirror above the bed. I love the new vanity so so much! I can identify. My daughter... when she was about three years old took a lipstick to my vanity seat. No way to get rid of that so for years I had various pieces of fabric draped over it. One day I decided to recover it and lo and behold, it wasn't so difficult and I love it!!! So much for putting things off, right? lol!

Looks great, but the dark looks great, too!
ReplyDeleteCindy, I have always loved toile and I have used your stool pattern in a client's home! Toile just adds that wonderful French feel! The guest room is welcoming and I am sure your visitors will love it! Blessings, Pam @ everydayliving.me
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job Cindy. That little bit of toile really brightens up the whole vanity. I also love the feminine and shabby chic look of the bed now. I'm sure that all of your visitors will feel very welcome and be comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI love that fabric!! You are right. Little things are so important...
