She's a guest room again!
The mister has moved his home office so this room is being dressed for guests.
A colonial farmhouse style guest room sounds warm, cozy and is the look I'm going for. I've been searching the attic, garage and all my stashes to keep with my low to no cost decorating goal and I have a few quilts, antiques and primitives in mind.
Here's a guest room sneak peek and also a mini-makeover project I'm working on.
For many years this cupboard was in my shop and used for displaying items for sale. I painted the inside white so my merchandise would show up better.
This was once a built-in, so nothing is uniform on this piece. There are ornate carved pieces on the right side but not on the left. The left side is open while the right side is solid.
There are doors that go with it but they were taken off long ago. They are still in the garage but I'm not sure if I'll be putting them back on...time will tell.
This cupboard is getting a mini-makeover.
There is old paint here and there on this piece which was fine for the shop but I prefer it not be there for the guest room. So it's coming off; or at least some of it is being removed.
Since this isn't a fancy piece I'm using 409 to remove the old paint.
I dampen a sponge with a little 409 and wipe it on the paint. After a minute or so I scrape the old paint off using the flat edge of a short handled screw driver. I wouldn't do this on a nice piece but it's working just fine for this one.

This shows the side before any of the paint was removed.
Here the paint has been removed from the top areas on the side and front.
I love the details, patina and years of wear on this cupboard.
Once the paint is removed I'll come back with a little wax to help her shine!
Another sneak peek of the bedding...maybe? I'm still deciding.
I've been cleaning out drawers and closets, working on this guest room and I'm almost finished with another project for the keeping room that I'll be sharing with you soon.
What projects are you working on?
