Fall Home Tour 2015

Welcome to my Fall Home Tour!

As one of 28 bloggers sharing their homes decorated for fall, I'd like to give a big thank you to Brenda at COZY LITTLE HOUSE for hosting and inviting me to be among these sweet and talented bloggers.

We live in North Carolina in a southern colonial.  Built in the early 70's, we knew when we bought this home that it was in need of a little care.  As we move along with remodeling, we try to incorporate touches of days gone by with a little farmhouse style to each project.  Our first projects were the FRONT PORCH and ENTRY DOORS.  

We love our porches here in the South and there's nothing better than rocking with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or sipping sweet iced tea in the afternoon.

I've been on a mission this year to decorate my home with little to no cost by using things already on hand.  It's already the fall season and so far so good, though I did purchase a few things for fall.

On the porch I pulled from my stash and added fall flowers to the SWEET GRASS BASKETS and a fall "welcome" flag.

For the entry I did purchase two garlands to go over the door.  They were a great price of less than $30 for both and I will be able to use them for years to come, so good deal.  One garland was used above each door, meeting in the middle with three large pine cones bringing it all together.

Just inside and to the left is the formal dining room.

A fall garland with turning leaves and berries was added above the mirror.

For the dining room table centerpiece I filled the base of a crystal vase with fall leaves and then added white hydrangea and a few fall colored mums.

After placing the vase on a gold ceramic tray, I finished the arrangement by adding a ribbon garland full of velvet flowers and jewels around the base.

This summer while in the garden I came across two leaves from last season and all that was left were the veins.  So pretty I thought, so I kept them.

The crowning jewel of this arrangement, don't you think? 

The keeping room is just off the dining room

Here's a better view.

While in the mountains this summer I found this basket for $12.  It is the perfect piece for the keeping room centerpiece.

First, I filled the HOOT OWL VASE with hydrangea and dried mahogany pods.

Then I placed the ceramic pumpkin ($12) on top of a small cake stand, filled the basket with fall flowers and viola...all done!

A garland full of pumpkins, gourds and berries was used on the fireplace.  Two glass vases with votive candles were place on either side to add a soft warm glow.

I do love evenings in the keeping room.

A little fall was added on the cupboard too.

Magnolia filled with pine cones,

fall flowers,

squirrels,

and acorns.

We have a few bushy tailed friends around here,

I introduced you to one of them here, LAZING, HANGING AND THIEVING.

There are fall touches in my favorite room of the house too, the kitchen!

It's my favorite room because the

long and drawn out remodel is finished

and now we get to enjoy our new FARMHOUSE STYLE KITCHEN. 

The BUNNIES IN THE KITCHEN were fall-ified, (that should be a "real" word!) by adding

Raffia,

apples,

pears,

and a pumpkin spice candle that smells oh so good!

On the vent hood I used rooster dishes in fall colors from my California Provincial Metlox collection.

At the kitchen sink there is a glass hurricane filled with a candle, pumpkins and acorns.

The last room on the tour is the great room which is just off the keeping room, so let's head on down...

Just above the flat screen is an antique window with a fall wreath.

Do you see Bella?  She's napping on one of her favorite chairs.

On the cupboard fall flowers were added to the swan.

On the side table a cloche was filled with a bird's nest and bird,

some hydrangea were placed at the base,

and a pumpkin spice candle is burning.

Yes, it smells amazing!

On the other side of the great room there are FALL FLOWERS AND FOXES in a wicker tray on the antique trunk.

On the skirted table an ironstone compote has been filled with a rabbit's foot fern,

fall ribbon

and

a few pretties.

This side table has two sweet grass baskets full of pumpkins, pine cones and acorns

as well as a crow dressed with fall ribbon and a yellow mum.

The fireplace mantel has been decorated with an ironstone pitcher filled with Magnolia and pine cones,

a garland with fall leaves and berries,

and corn cob candles in glass hurricanes.
