Roses have always been one of my garden favorites.
Though finicky and magnets for pests and disease...there is just no other flower quite like the rose.
As years pass,
our property becomes more shaded,
so there are fewer roses in my garden,
but oh how they steal the show.
In this bed there are azaleas, Camellia, amaryllis, Chinese snowball viburnum, butterfly bush, autumn joy sedum, and lots of red and pink knock out roses.
Knock out roses are known to be more resistant to disease and pests,
but they are still roses and need a little TLC.
I didn't either until cropping it for this post.
Look close, just above the bud and you'll see two antennas...those pesky garden pests!
From bud to full bloom knock outs are beautiful!
The New Dawn climbs along the fence in the courtyard.
Out front is a red climbing rose, though she has nothing to climb on.
Reaching out long and graceful, she is allowed to grow as she wills, only pruning to keep her off the ground.
there is no flower quite like the rose!
Do you love roses too?
Thanks so much for your visit and sweet comments, they make my day!
There's much more to see in the garden here:
You are so lucky to have so many beautiful roses...I miss mine from our old house, it was always wonderful to be able to snip some for a beautiful bouquet. Enjoy yours!

Stunning flowers and photos too!!
ReplyDeleteI picked knock-out rose petals once (non-sprayed) and used them to make rose-ice cream. I served it in miniature cones at a party. Mmmmm!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, pretty, pretty pictures and the colors are gorgeous.

Cindy those knockout roses are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI do love roses, Cindy. Roses and lilacs are my two very favorite blooms. I am just going out to check my New Dawn that I planted as a bare root last Fall. I think it has some blooms on it! I didn't know if it would make it through out harsh winter this year. Yours are GORGEOUS! All of them. You must love wandering your yard and checking the flowers. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteCindy, I do love roses and yours are beautiful! Have a wonderful Wednesday! Pam (everydayliving.me)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! What did we ever do before Knockouts?
ReplyDeleteYour knockout roses are truly knockouts!...(had to say that!).....they are beautiful...I have gotten away from the hybrid roses and gone to the knockouts as they easier to take care of and the deer don't eat them as much..the key words, as much!...
ReplyDeleteYes, I absolutely love roses too and your photos are so beautiful. I love the buds especially! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the pinks, however what you are calling red still has a pink undertone to me and I love it.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so pretty! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
ReplyDeleteI love roses too, Cindy, although we only have one rose bush at the moment. My MIL has a New Dawn Rose on her back fence, and it really is lovely. She has an Old Garden Rose in the front yard that we gave her one year for Mother's Day. It has great big blooms that look like cabbage roses and a wonderful fragrance. She had three Knockout roses, but something killed them all. Yes, I think roses are the queen of the flower world. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Hugs,
Denise
