Hog Scrapers and Hydrangea ~ The Keeping Room

Free...I really like that word.

Not wanting to buy anything new,
I headed to my stash in hopes of coming up with a centerpiece for the keeping room.

Using an antique box,
hog scraper candlesticks,
and hydrangea,
this is what I came up with.

I love the primitive look of hog scraper candlesticks,
and the metal on this antique box,
both of which add to the farmhouse style
in the keeping room.

A couple of decoupage boxes to use as a base,
giving the hog scrapers a little height in the arrangement.

They are in position...

After adding the hydrangea...

A few have held their color,
some have not,
I like them either way...

Candles offer that special little something
as
the
sun
goes
down.

Happy Friday!
Do you have big plans for the weekend?

  3. How pretty!

When I read hog scrapers I pictured those metal things you scrape your shoes on. I was wrong. ;)

  6. Love the rustic elegant look. Wish my dried hydrangeas looked as good as yours. Mine were two years old and showing their age, so had to toss them.

  9. I had to admit that the title of your post caught my attention--I had no idea what a hog scraper was and HAD to find out! Ha! Those evening shots are gorgeous!

  10. Your center piece look really good. I love it when you can find items in our stash. I have been cleaning closets and shelves and I am finding things I forgot that I had. Don't you love it - it's like going shopping. Your hydrangeas look so good. I have so many bushes and I always forget to cut some and dry them. Maybe this year I will remember.
    Have a great week.

  12. Your centerpiece of "found" objects is just gorgeous, Cindy! OK I still don't know what a hogscraper is even after seeing those candlesticks. Your photography is fabulous also.
