Are the leaves changing colors and falling in your neck of the woods? They are here in North Carolina.
It's amazing how fast summer is flying by,
and since the maple and dogwood leaves are already turning colors and falling
I thought I would take a stroll through the summer garden before the flowers fade away.
This spring I decided to Keep the Entry Simple by just planting ferns
and they have done really well...

Along the flower beds the Liriope muscari is in full bloom...
The area beside the stairs off the courtyard is shaded
so the pink and white Impatiens do well here...
In the courtyard just before the pond is a black wrought iron glider
with an Asparagus Fern atop the side table...
No longer summer green,
the Autumn Joy Sedum is changing to its pinkish fall color...
The Calla Lilies,
so tall and bright with fancy red blooms...
Way out back is a bed full of Rudbeckia,
mostly yellow with a few purple scattered here and there...
This purple Rudbeckia is just about to open...
We have quite a few red and pink Knockout roses and I would love to add some yellow ones,
maybe next year...
Trumpet Vine.
Such a dainty bloom
and it must be sweet too because the ants and winged ants love its nectar...
The urns on the deck are filled with Calibrachoa which look like tiny little Petunia blooms...
Notice the maple tree leaves on the deck, they are changing colors and falling.
Are your leaves changing color yet?
Absolutely beautiful. Your planters are lovely - so full and colourful. Up here the leaves have begun to turn a little - some of the early colour is due to the drought of the past two months. The birch tree is losing its leaves all over the drive - something that happens much later, most years. I do love the light at this time of year, though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gardens, looks like a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteCindy,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is a feast for the eyes.

Absolutely Stunning!!! Not just your garden but your photos as well! I wish my flowers still looked this good. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready for summer to be over Cindy, and if I had a gorgeous garden like yours, I would be sad!!!! Lovely and perfect dear, thank you for sharing this with us. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour photos and your garden are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe're not even close to summer being over here. :) I so wish it would cool down. Your trumpet vine is spectacular! I've tried (twice) to grow one and never succeeded. Love all your colorful blooms!
ReplyDeleteNot seeing any signs of fall here yet. I noticed yesterday afternoon when I was watering the containers on the patio that it was 110 in the shade. I want a yellow rose as well. I don't often see them in nurseries.

How beautiful, Cindy! We are quite a few weeks away from anything resembling fall here. I'm ready for it though. Your photos are stunning.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so pretty Cindy! I'm sure not ready for fall, but I'm afraid my plants are. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

Not a sign of fall here in NE Louisiana but I am sure ready for it. I love your simple look and that's definitely the look I'm going with at our new house, especially on the front porch. I just don't care for a lot of fuss anymore. Enjoyable post!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so lush and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers and ferns in your urns are particularly stunning!
Thanks so much for sharing :0)
