Most of us have them.

You know, the big black box.
And in some cases the two black boxes...
The TV and fireplace are two black boxes we just have to decorate around,
though I often wish I could hide them, especially the TV.
I'm always on the look out for a fireplace screen and have seen a few that were really nice,
but the prices were way too high for me.
As for the TV,
I've seen great ideas for building them into the fireplace or bookshelf,
but that isn't going to happen here anytime soon.
So, how about using a vintage picture?
though I often wish I could hide them, especially the TV.

Here it is on the TV...
The border of the TV makes the picture look as though it has a frame...
And when we want to watch TV,
it can be removed and used in front of the fireplace...
All you need is one of these...
A vintage picture to hide the TV or fireplace...
Here's how I did it...Hiding the Black Boxes.

What a cozy room! Great idea, Cindy! Especially when you can use it for both the tv and fireplace!
ReplyDeleteNow isn't that a smart idea?!
ReplyDeleteOh Cindy, I LOVE this idea!! It's a beautiful picture, and I can't believe how perfectly it fits onto your TV screen. I can't wait to see how you hang it on the TV! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Denise
OMGosh, Cindy! Your timing is perfect! I've been staring at my fireplace black box for a week now. I took away the old fire screen, which is really too tall for the opening, and I keep staring at the fp opening hoping for some inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your idea of using the easel to hold the picture. It looks great on the tv, too.. Thanks a ton for the great solution.
Well I think that's pretty brilliant! Can't wait to see how you attached it to the TV.
ReplyDeleteLove your idea as well as the beautiful print. I never would have thought of that-thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

Hi Cindy! I've been gone so long and I've missed so much! You're a genius! What a great idea! How are you going to make it say on or maybe you're not! :) Hope you're doing well and I love this pretty room of yours.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Cute idea. Giant TV's over fireplaces drive me crazy - but sometimes, it's unavoidable.
ReplyDeleteWell, just too cute and what a cleaver idea. We have plans to hang all our TV's in our new house except in one of the family rooms and we have a beautiful huge cabinet that it will go in. Happy week!
ReplyDeleteThis is genius!! I always had a lot of tall potted plants around our TV to divert attention. And in the summer I put the fireplace screen away and have a big basket of dried flowers. I think I like your idea better! :)
ReplyDeleteJane xx
Oh my goodness, that's just so clever!
ReplyDeleteSuper idea Cindy! That darn TV - love it, hate it! I will be trying this for sure. Jane
ReplyDeleteSo simple yet so genius Cindy!!!!! have to find one that will fit ours!
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea Cindy, so creative and pretty. When not on the tv, it looks fabulous in front of your fireplace...xo
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this idea, Cindy! We are just now thinking about getting rid of the huge cabinet that we had made to "hide" the big screen TV we had (that was one of those heavy, fat, thick ones). It has gone kaput and we replaced it with a skinny one but the new one is in the old TV cabinet. I still want to hide the new one if we get rid of the cabinet so your idea is timely for me.
ReplyDeleteSince my TV hangs above my fireplace (it was the only place to put it), I am in love with this idea! Thanks!
