It was late in the day and cold outside when Mr. Heart and I grabbed a couple of throws so we could snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie. We are really enjoying the new great room. It is comfortable, and both of us are surprised that we aren't missing our old den like we thought we would. Of course Mr. Heart is enjoying the wide screen television which is really all it takes for him...lol!
Anyway, we were nice and warm,
and enjoying the movie,
when all of a sudden we noticed the fireplace mantlel was being painted with colors; every color of the rainbow.
and enjoying the movie,
when all of a sudden we noticed the fireplace mantlel was being painted with colors; every color of the rainbow.
I was surprised at first, and then began glancing over to the windows to see where the color was coming from, and just as soon I remembered about the dining room chandelier.
This is the great room fireplace mantel as it normally looks...
At first the colors were on the white areas of the mantel,
by the time I realized where the colors were coming from,
and grabbed my camera,
the colors were moving up onto the base of the swan.
It's amazing how fast these colors appeared on the mantle and how quickly they were gone...
The colors were so bright and vivid..
The dining room is in the very front of the house,
the great room is in the very back of the house,
and they are separated by the kitchen.
These prism colors were traveling from the front of the house all the way to the back...
Bright and vivid colors dancing on the dining room walls...
I've shared before how the dining room looks when sprinkled with rainbow colors here.
There is something so captivating and enchanting,
watching the sunlight stream into the window,
dancing through the cut crystal,
creating every color of the rainbow...
Before you go...

That light streaming in is beautiful, Cindy. I can't wait to see how you capture the light with your new camera, your new rooms, etc. Your new great room is just that - great! I know what you mean about the guys & the tv, lol. I must say, though, I've grown to like the bigger screen too. :) Have a great weekend, and i loved reading your blogger post at Kris'.

Prisms are wonderful. They bring something magical to every room that gets direct sunlight! It's heart-warming to see their bright happy colors splashed against the walls and ceilings:)
ReplyDeleteWhen I taught second grade, I had glass prisms that stuck to the window with a rubber suction. The children enjoyed them so much when the afternoon sun came through. They loved to stand inside the rainbow so the color was splashed on their faces. They really are enchanting. Remember they were in the movie Pollyanna!
ReplyDeleteYour chandelier is beautiful in your pretty green dining room.
Oh- Isn't that gorgeous!!!!???? You captured them beautifully. The ones I have here are in my dining room and on that mantle. The girls think they are fairy lights -and mean that fairies are visiting our house late in the afternoon every day. So-now you know- those are NOT just pretty lights dancing across your walls and room-they are fairies-coming in to bring you good luck and maybe play a trick or two on you. xo Diana

Isn't that fun! Especially since the source came all the way across the house like that! I remember discovering my chandelier picks up the sun and does the same thing in my dining area. It is brief but fun to see. Your dining room chandelier is gorgeous!
