I'M PACKING IT UP!

I have always called this piece a cupboard, but I don't guess it really is.
They are two separate pieces, found at two different times.

The top is a glass door cabinet that is made to hang on the wall,
and the bottom piece is an old flour bin.
It just so happened that they fit together perfectly!

The great-room furniture has been stacked in the living room so the new floors could be installed,
and the wood was delivered Tuesday so it could be acclimated to our home before instillation.
We are going with Brazilian cherry, the same as in the rest of the house.

Things are moving along,
which means everything has got to be moved,
so I am packing it up!

Time to pack the fun pieces like this Sylvester and Tweety butter dish, a gift from my brother.
(Did I ever tell you my nickname is Tweety Bird?)

And the cardinal, a gift from my sister.
It is two pieces so it can be adhered to a piece of glass...
(scroll back up three pics and you can see the other side of it on the cupboard door)

And all the lemons, platters, and chicks, have to be packed up too...

All done, and the cupboard is bare...

It's kind of sad packing this away.
The cupboard has been in this spot and filled with these special pieces for over 12 years,
and I'm not sure where I will be able to use it once the kitchen remodel is finished.

Hmmm....

  11. The cupboard that isn't a cupboard is awesome and it would be a shame not to have a place for it. Surely you will find one!

  13. It does sound sad packing it away but how fun it is to relive all the memories one-by-one as you pack up. I love the clean slate feeling too when moving things around. I think it brings a freshness to the house and my mind. But it will all be worth it for those beautiful floors!

  17. I love all the pieces you've shared today. Couldn't you hang the cabinet over your countertops in your kitchen? It would save you money on cabinetry! I think it would look great. The flour bin could be a super-cool sofa table. :D I love them because they are so unique.
