CHRISTMAS FOR THE BIRDS

Birds.
What a blessing to have a yard full of them.
Their songs fill the air with whistles of beauty and happiness.

What a pleasure to watch them,
they are so keen,
always knowing where I am,
quick to maintain their boundary and flying off when I get too close.

So many colors,
so many songs and whistles,
such sights to behold...

"Look at the birds of the air,
they do not sow,
nor reap nor gather into barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not worth much more than they?"
Matthew 6:26

It is such a joy in helping to take care of these beautiful creatures
by feeding them, especially in the colder months and Christmas time.

Did you see our owl?
He was big and pretty, take a peek...DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

So, is your yard full of birds?
Blessings,
Cindy

  1. Birds make me a little nervous, but I like seeing them out the safety of the window! Cardinals are my favorite and they come to my yard all the time!
    Pretty photos!

  2. This is so sweet! They are precious, and I love that scripture, Cindy. My favorites are the cardinals and the turtle doves. But there are the cute finches and chickadees. The wrens and the sparrows. But you gotta love a mischievous magpie! ;-)

  3. This is a great post, Cindy, with beautiful images. We love to feed and watch the birds at our house; they're fascinating creatures, aren't they? I especially love the nuthatches, cardinals, bluebirds, chickadees, and woodpeckers. We hear owls outside a lot at night, but I don't think I've ever caught a glimpse of one in our yard. Your owl was really big and handsome! :)

Thanks for sharing with us, and I hope you're having a joyful Christmas season.

    Hugs,

    Denise

  6. Your birds are so very pretty. Yes, I feel the birds and they let me know when their feeder is getting low. I also have three hummingbird feeders and they sure drink like crazy. I love my hummers. We don;t get the pretty birds like you do, but I like them anyway.

  10. We don't feed the birds but should. I enjoy watching them! When we are walking Sherman we often see big Pileated Woodpeckers and huge Cranes. Nature is something.

  12. Cindy, first, I have to laugh and tell you when I first glanced at the title of this post I thought it said "Christmas IS for the birds"...lol! I just love these photos of the birds....the ones in the snow are particularly gorgeous. At first I thought, hey, how did SHE get snow??? :) Don't you wish we would get some? Anyway, yes, living in the woods, our yard is always full of birds and we used to feed them all of the time until the squirrels took over. Here lately, I have seen so many beautiful birds from afar and have decided that I wanted to started feeding them again. We have the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with them since there is a tree (with an empty feeder) that is less than 10 feet away from our living room windows! Even before you posted this, I had already decided to buy myself and hubby a BIRD FEEDER for Christmas! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, Cindy!

  14. Cindy, what beautiful images! We had two or three cardinals that would show up everyday in the backyard, while we were working on the other house. They are so pretty! We just got home and rushed to get our decor up tonight. I snapped a quick pic of the mantel and got a post up in record time...lol! Hope you can stop by! Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family, my friend! God bless!
