Tall, Dark and Handsome

I found him!

I have been hoping for him for a long, long, time.

I wanted him to be tall, dark, and handsome.

So I have searched, and searched, and searched,

and boy have I seen a lot of them.

Many of them caught my eye, but I kept on walking.

Yes, the others were nice, but not the perfect one for me.

Until now that is, FINALLY my search is over!

And here he is, my Chippendale Highboy in a deep, rich, cherry finish...

We haven't done any decorating in our master bedroom and we've been in our home for 12 years!
Well, I take that back, we did started planning our master bath remodel but after tackling our new
WALK-IN-CLOSET
we decided that we should start with a smaller project first so we remodeled our
GUEST BATH.

Since the kitchen is next on our list, our master is now way down on the to-do-list.
(I know, I know, you keep hearing about the kitchen but haven't seen anything happening yet!  It is taking so long, like FOREVER, just to get everything planned and the structural engineer to give us an answer!  Soon, I promise!)

Anyway, we have needed another piece of furniture for clothes storage and I have wanted this piece to be a Chippendale Cherry Highboy.  So I've been searching for one for years, but they have always been the wrong size, or in poor condition, but mostly they were just too much $$$!  Recently while strolling through a local consignment shop I found this handsome piece and the price was perfect, so I brought him home!

Yes, our camel back sofa is an orange velvet
and the chair in the far right corner is upholstered in a flame stitch fabric.
And the wallpaper has been here long before us,
and the curtains are old too.
I have lot's of thoughts swirling around in my head for one day!

Sorry my picture didn't capture both wall quilts.  My sweet friend Michelle made them for me over 22 years ago.  A sweet gift from her heart and I love them just as much today as I did the day she gave them to me.

Thanks so much for letting me share my new tall, dark, and handsome find with you.
I'm so glad I was able to FINALLY bring one home!

Blessings,
Cindy

  2. Cindy, I actually think your un-redecorated master bedroom is quite cozy and comfortable looking! The new Highboy is beautiful...goes so lovely with that gorgeous bed!

  3. Oh Cindy- That looks just like the one my friend sent to auction when I was helping her with her house. I think it went for under $100. Isn't that sad? It still had the tags on it from when she bought it and she paid a fortune for it! I love yours in the bedroom..it looks great. That reminds me of the bedroom in one of our houses. Every single wall in the whole house was wallpapered and the paper in your bedroom looks a lot like the paper in my daughter's room-right down to the border.

You know, with a family and everything going on it takes a long time to bring a whole house together-unless time and money are no object. I think your bedroom is lovely and that piece is a great addition. Your couch is PERFECT for Fall!!!! xo Diana

  5. Cindy, I love the handsome high boy. I think I may have his brother. :) It was part of our bedroom suite and is celebrating about 26 years with us now. Actually, I think your bedroom has a charming quaint look, as is, but I know the feeling of needing an update. I'm sure it will be fab!

  6. Yes, he is!! Definitely worth the wait and search. I had to laugh about not getting your master bedroom decorated after being in the home for as long as you have because I was in the same boat! It was way down on the list and now we've got our home up for sale! No need to decorate it as I wanted now. In our next home, I hope to have that project at the top of the list. LOL

  9. Cindy, the highboy is beautiful! Wow! It had to be a struggle move around! I love your master bedroom furnishings. Seeing how your furniture is arranged, I think I need to visit consignment shops more often. I know there are rarely items the quality of your purchase. I'm so happy for you. Love your home and furnishings.

  10. Oh my, it really is stunning, such a fabulous find. I don't blame you, this one is perfect. I adore the orange sofa, I would never change it. I think it could be the most stunning piece with a soft cream/off white and beige color scheme worked around it. Hugs, Marty

  17. That Highboy is a really gorgeous piece and so happy for you that you found the right one. I actually like the orange sofa! Anyway, take it one step at a time, and you'll eventually get to 'fix' whatever needs to be fixed in your room. And this highboy is a great start!

  19. What a handsome high boy dresser! Great find. Love that your bedroom is so huge. I'd love to have a bedroom large enough for a couch. I love your bed too and the shape of the couch is gorgeous. It takes time and lots of money to get each room of the house done.

  22. Love the highboy and that orange camel back is to die for! What's throwing me is the wall paper, i know you didn't pick it out but if you took that down it would be a dramatic change!

  23. A highboy adds presence and elegance to a room much as a baby grand piano can do. Yours is fabulous. It was worth the search and the wait. You'll make it all beautiful someday because you have the bones of a great beginning.
