It was in the mountains while driving along and enjoying the views that we found her. The Mast Farm Inn, a charming bed-and-breakfast nestled between Banner Elk and Boone, in the small town of Valle Crucis, NC.
The main road runs right through the property. It is hard to see in these pictures but the inn sits just behind the white picket fence, the road is just outside the fence, and on the other side of the road is the cutting garden, and parking.
We enjoy staying in B&B’s so we decided to stop in to get a brochure. After parking we strolled through the cutting garden as we worked our way across the street to the inn…
The walkway was lush and full of blooms…
Welcome to the front entry and rocking chair porch…
The foyer…
The first room on the right is a keeping room and bar area where guests can wait. Wait for what you may ask? After the innkeeper gave us a brochure about the B&B she then shared that Simplicity at the Inn offers gourmet dining every evening except Sunday and Monday with a brunch offered on Sunday. We made reservations and came back later that evening for dinner. It was wonderful!
Though we couldn’t see the rooms because they were all occupied, we enjoyed touring the common areas. In the keeping room I loved the ceilings, old brick fireplace with red antique mantle and all the hen decor, especially the painting. Even the curtains had hens on them, such a charming room!
To the left as you enter the inn is a sitting room decorated with a few modern touches mixed with furnishing from days gone by.
How do you like the pops of blue?
A closer view…
The powder room…
Several oil paintings featuring kitty cats…
Love this marble top table…
and this antique mortise lock…charming!
The grounds are beautiful with lush natural landscaping, outbuildings and historic cabins available for guests to stay.
This is the kitchen shed and even the roof is lush with moss and ferns growing on the old cedar shingles, so charming! While eating our appetizer we noticed the kitchen staff going in and out of this building and were told there is a fridge and other kitchen supplies stored inside…
This path runs along the right side of the inn which leads to a cabin…
On the left side of the inn are several historic cabins available for guests to stay. According to the innkeeper this log cabin is the original family home place…
This cabin has two spaces for guest to stay with a walkway through the middle…
And across the lawn is another cabin…
The property has huge trees, too big to get in one shot so here is the bottom…
and here is the top, huge!
This is the view looking back from the cabins to the kitchen shed, the inn and across the road to the cutting garden and parking area...
Across the road from the inn and behind the cutting garden is this large old barn…
To the left of the barn is a path leading to a cabin…
Here is another cutting garden lined with bee houses…
I hope we will soon be heading back to the Mast Farm Inn and hopefully to stay a night or two! Do you have a favorite B&B?
Hope you enjoyed the tour, please leave a comment so I’ll know you did!
Hope you'll come party this week at AMAZE ME MONDAY!
Blessings,
Cindy

ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is this?!! Love the pops of aqua and of course, all the hen motifs. But, what made me smile from ear to ear was the pretty blue exterior, walkways and flowers!! I could sit there all day long, yes, even in heat and humidity!!

This is my all time favorite post of yours - OMG - it's just spectacular - I felt like I was walking every step beside you ( screaming in your ear - " did you see that " ? )
ReplyDeleteThat photo of the garden with the sun streaming through?
Yeah - off to pin that - actually off to pin a lot of these.
Thanks SO much for sharing Cindy!
Hugs,
Suzan
I want to go there~! I'll have to look and see how far it is from me. Thanks so much for taking us on this beautiful tour back in time.

I'm so glad you shared this, it is close enough we could go some weekend. I'll have to check out their website. We once stayed at the Two Sons Inn in Beaufort SC, it was great, the chef/owner is French and a French-trained chef, so the food was incredible. That's my only B&B experience. It was right on the water, too, wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Cindy! What a gorgeous b&b!!
ReplyDeleteWe are lovers of b&b's!
This one you have shared looks so beautiful! What a grand tour!
I have a favourite one in Niagara on the lake, Ontario!
I'll have to post on it one day. You'd love it.
Loved the cabins too...so cute!
All my heart,
Deborah xoxoxo
Hi Cindy and thanks for popping in and giving me another chance to see this lovely place. Hope your week is going well.

What a gorgeous place. Thanks tons for the tour. I love all the cabins, they fascinate me. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI have been to Valley Crusis several times and enjoyed the lovely scenery and the general store, but I've only seen the inn from outside. Thanks for the look inside and around the whole place. How peaceful and beautiful the whole place is!
ReplyDeleteCindy what a charming place this is. Never heard of it. Of course, I loved the decor. They like roo's too I see. Beautiful grounds too. Believe it or not Mike and I never have stayed at a B&B.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place and experience!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...what an awesome place for some R&R! This place is only a few hours from where I am in NC...I need to check this place out! Thanks so much for the wonderful tour!
ReplyDeleteDebby
What a beautiful place. We've stayed in lots of B&Bs in the past. I really love it when it feels like your own private space. Have you ever stayed in one that felt like you were in somebody's house? Because they were there? Don't like that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tour, such a beautiful place. I especially liked the barn, the cabins and the grounds. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patty
Wow, what wonderful images of this beautiful B&B! I'm a sucker for old houses, and those log cabins are so charming, as is the main house with its beautiful roof. We have stayed in B&B's all over the world, and we always enjoy the personal service and feeling that you are staying in someone's home that you get with B&B properties.

Cindy, what a beautiful tour of the B&B! The grounds were beautiful and the cabins and house amazing! We have camped at Banner Elk when our children were little and I remember how beautiful the whole area was! Thank you for this post! I may have to plan another trip to NC (if it ever stops raining)!
ReplyDeleteOh, how charming...I'd like to move right in! And bees...and gardens. Love it all. Thanks for sharing. :)

ReplyDeleteThat picture of the garden path with the light streaming through the trees is breathtaking. Wonderful shot. Just loved getting to tour the place and see all the cabins. Gorgeous!

Cindy,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this wonderful place with us!! Beautiful!! Thanks too for always stopping by!! I was just looking at all the Deb's that commented on this post... strange, huh??
LOL!
Hugs,
Debbie
I know a couple who were married here a few years ago... in January with snow on the ground! But it was all done perfectly (no, I wasn't there..). I think this inn is part of the Select Registry group: I"ll check. But we are, at this moment, at the Carlisle House B&B in Carlisle, Pa. It was right on our way home from a long road trip, so we made the reservation. Well, it is one of THE nicest B&B's we've ever stayed in!! I highly recommend it if you are anywhere in central PA./Harrisburg. Lovely owners, the rooms are enormous and it's meticulously done!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your gorgeous photographs. Coming from the hot desert, it was a real treat this morning to walk my eyes through those lush green grounds and gardens. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteThis place oozes charm! I love the outbuildings, the pops of blue, and the unbelievable coziness of this serene, rustic B&B.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Alli's and so glad I found you!,
This is exactly the type of place where I like to stay. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful inn at Throwback Thursday.
ReplyDeleteVery charming, indeed! And what lovely pictures. I felt like I was there with you. Thanks for sharing at Throwback Thursday!
