HAND PAINTED ANTIQUE PORCELAIN

Why am I drawn to these things? 
While many homes are being embellished with pretties from Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and the like, I am drawn to those things my Granny would have loved!  Oh well, when I saw these two hand painted antique porcelain switch covers at the antique mall, I had to get them.


I’m replacing these brass switch plate covers with

this one in the downstairs guest bedroom…

Old fashioned, but pretty aren’t they!

    I feel the same way Cindy!
    Love those switch covers~they are very romantic looking.
    I used to love buying items for décor at stores, but now I love finding used treasures at garage sales,flea markets etc.
    Its so much fun and many items are truly beautiful!

    No way old-fashioned for me, I say, 'classics'. Follow your heart Cindy, you've done wonderful so far in your home choosing to put what you love! I too used to be in that 'catalog crowd' but like many, I too have gone to the 'vintage side' and scour thrift and antique stores when I can. :-)

    Those switch covers are so pretty, Cindy. We had some in a turn of the century house that I think might have been handpainted by the owner. They were pretty but the ones you have here are gorgeous- xo Diana

    Making me miss mine. When we sold our last home, those were forgotten on the walls of the master suite. I regret leaving them there....

    We must be kindred spirits for sure. I love everything about them...and feel the same way about old stuff! I sometimes wish I would have been born in a different era. I guess if I would have, these things wouldn't seem quite so special would they?

    They are so pretty. In France, they changed a few electrical "norms" as they always do and so it's very difficult to install those old switch.
