It’s been rainy most of our time here in the NC mountains but the scenes are still beautiful!
This tulip grows on a tree, the Tulip Poplar…
So much lush greenery…
Lichen, wild mushrooms, moss and other things growing on the rocks…

Such a cute squirrel. His ears are real furry and his tail really red…
A few mountain homes…

Homes built on boulders in the middle of a stream…
Christmas tree farms are everywhere…
Speaking of Christmas trees, it’s Christmas in June…

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post...the wild mushrooms growing on rocks...wow! and that red squirrel, how adorable, makes me wish I lived on the east coast again instead of the Midwest...The houses were great, love the streams and boulders in the area...here we have to truck them in....Lucky girl you are!!

Love all the fun sights you have had too, being in nature is just the best vacation ever as far as we are concerned, nothing can compare with God's handiwork, that is for sure!

ReplyDeleteWhat refreshingly vibrant scenes of green and gorgeous mountain homes! Because of the rain, the area is blessed with those tall, healthy trees that provide pretty views from equally beautiful homes nearby. Enchanting, wish I could visit to walk in all the splendour.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're having a wonderful time in our beautiful N.C. mountains. :) I love your photos, and you got some great closeups!! We almost ran over a groundhog in our neighborhood today -- YIKES. He was right in the middle of the road, and my husband had to hit the brakes and swerve around him. They are so cute. If everything works out, we'll be going to the mountains in July -- I'm looking forward to it.

The squirrel is so cute. Our French squirrels look exactly like that: red and fluffy ears, but if I can sometimes hear them, I very rarely seem them as they are really shy.

Oh how I love the mountains of NC! We still own some land up near the border of TN and I love to hike the land and enjoy the cool temps! You took some amazing photos! Makes me miss it! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! I am partial to the mountains, myself, whether they are in NC or at our little cabin in Fancy Gap, VA. There is nothing to compare to mountain splendor. And the tulip tree...I have lived in NC for over 20 years in the same house and this was the first year our tulip poplars bloomed! I didn't know what those things were, high up in those trees... until I googled the description and there was my answer! Their blooms are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this lovely post!

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures! Somewhere around the same time, I went ecstatic at the sight of 100+ yrs old tulip trees (some 4-5 of them) in blossom at the Lund Botanical Gardens. The lady who almost dragged me over to share her enthusiasm (noticing mine) told me there is one across from our place (in Sweden) too.
