Hi Sweet Friends!

So tell me, do you like Roo's?

I've been doing some spring cleaning and I need to spruce up my old cupboard full of hens and roosters...







This is just a peek cause I've got more sprucing to do, but this got me to thinking about how to tell the difference between a chicken and a rooster.  Do you know how to tell the difference?


I went online to look for the answer and it seems that even the professionals have a hard time telling the difference, so here's an article if you'd like to check it out...How to tell a chicken from a rooster!  
In the end, if you really want to know if your bird is a chicken or a rooster you need to do as one commenter suggested, take it to an Avian vet and have a DNA Test done.
LOL...just a bit of fun if you need something to read over the weekend!

    Love the roo (chicken?) leaning over the shelf! So different and interesting! Your cupboard and drawers below are wonderful. I love unique pieces like that. Enjoy the long weekend!

    hahaha! I bet you can't do that to your collection!!! I'm more of a cow/pig kinda person, but love to see collections such as yours, they are real treasures and can't wait how you'll change (or not) your decor! Happy memorial day weekend dear!

    Cindy, First I just love your cupboard. And your drapes and your wallpaper. I don't think I've seen this combination before. I'm going to take your "Home Tour" in case I've missed any more. You have a great collection of chicks and roos also. Since I will never have 'real' chickens, I don't need to know the difference and the faux ones are always easy to tell apart..Happy Holiday..Judy

    What a unique piece. It is so pretty. I love the green paint the chipped doors, shelves and those drawers.

    Cindy, love your pot belly cabinet. We had one in the kitchen of our first home. I found it at a yard sale. When we moved to this home in 1996, there wasn't a spot for it. My niece inherited it. '-) She just moved into a new home and there wasn't a spot for it in her new kitchen so she has it in a guest bedroom. Too special to give up! She has a large outdoor covered porch which I think it would work on too.
    Yes, I do like roos and hens. Lots of them nest around here.

    Do I ever love roos and chicks - yes I do, even my granddaughter gets me them for Xmas. Yours are great and I love the cabinet that you have them in - what a great piece of furniture.

    I am a city girl, but when I was a child my grandmother told me the rooster is the one making all the noise every morning. hahaha!

    I think I have more roosters than hens in my house.....but really do like them. Yours really have a neat place to roost.

    I always thought the roosters had the big comb on their heads that the lady chickens/hens don't have.

    That is such a beautiful cupboard, Cindy, so unique! I am a new lover of Roos, like within the last three years or so. I grew up around chickens (hens & roosters....lol), so I really couldn't understand the great fascination at first, but they have worn me down and started creeping into my home!
