Do you have a spot? You know, that place where you drop “it”
until you can get back to “it”
or need “it” again?
Our kitchen table is the spot.
A catchall for the mail, my keys, my purse, my scarf, my gloves…clutter!
Are you seeing a pattern here?
A catchall for the mail, my keys, my purse, my scarf, my gloves…clutter!
Are you seeing a pattern here?
Our children are out on their own and my hubby is a tidy fella,
so what’s up with all this clutter?
It’s ME, it's my clutter!
so what’s up with all this clutter?
It’s ME, it's my clutter!
BUT I have found a solution…
Entering our back door, the kitchen table is the first spot available for me to drop my stuff, and the clutter drives me crazy! There is just no good place to put these things and I need to keep them close because I'm in and out so much, sooo...
I got to thinking about a small cupboard in the great room,
that it may just be the perfect solution.
Here it is between these two chairs…
that it may just be the perfect solution.
Here it is between these two chairs…
I slid this little cupboard over beside the back door and in it’s place I brought in this antique three drawer chest that was in our den. The chest is full of family photographs.
These antique mirrors have been stored in a closet because I haven’t had a place to hang them, until now...
Are you wondering how this cupboard is the solution to my clutter?
This basket is used for the mail and the milk glass dish is where I place my keys…
and when the cupboard door is opened, voilà ... my purse, scarves, and gloves.
Being right beside the back door, this is the perfect new spot for all my clutter!
Here’s Bella, she was supervising as I moved things around…
Ellie-Mae says hi and thanks you for coming to see us...
So, where's your spot, got any clutter you need a solution for?
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea, and your kitchen table is clutter free! Don't you just love when you think of a simple solution like that.....I think it is because we just do so many mindless things and just never stop to think about it unless something happens to make us think about it, then necessity becomes the mother of invention!! lol
Many times I try to think of the old saying "think smarter, don't work harder" and it is true if you really think something thru so many
times you can think of an easier or smarter way to do it............
Hope you are doing well hon, Are yall about to get more cold weather?? I hear there is gonna
be storms up north.
Blessings, Nellie
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteOur clutter area is exactly the same as yours -- the kitchen table. It drives me crazy! We enter our house through the kitchen door, and everything gets dumped on the table. I love your simple and attractive solution. Unfortunately, we don't have room for another piece of furniture in our kitchen. Also, we just had it remodeled, and I hate to add anything else in there. We have a three-drawer chest in our den just beyond the kitchen, so I think that's what I'm going to need to use for our clutter.
Your cat and dog are so cute. :) I enjoyed this post, and the pictures of your home are lovely -- such pretty furniture! Have a wonderful weekend!
Denise
Spectacular thinking!
ReplyDeleteYour furry fam members agree, too.
I'm trying hard to think and I can't come up with a hot spot. I guess that's because we travel overseas so often that, right now I'm emptying the suitcases. Yuck.

I know what you mean about clutter Cindy. We come in through the garage and drop everthing in the dining room. What an eyesore since that is the room right beside the front door. Your switcheroo was a great way to solve your problem, and hopefully I can come up with a better one for mine. Loved seeing your adorable pets too! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, We all tend to walk in and drop things.. drives me nuts! You've got some great ideas here:) and your home is so warm and welcoming. I used to have a kitty that looked almost identical to yours!

Cidy I love the spot you've created for your needfuls, and its all so pretty too!
ReplyDeleteGive a hug and squeeze to your little friends...they are so sweet!
Yes, i do have clutter...way toomuch over our home. I need to start small and work my way around.
It's my new years resolution!
Warm winter hugs!
All my heart,
Deborah xoxoxo
Ohhh its the table for me too! LOL or rather, for my girls, there are piles of their stuff there and I have to step in and force it to be cleaned! lol I love your home, so chick! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Very smart Cindy. I am afraid it would take a sideboard for our clutter. We have an enormous bar that catches everything. I clean it off every two weeks but it's a sight.
ReplyDeleteCindy,You are a clever one!!! My study is my messy spot. I can close the door and... poof... it is all gone. Until I open it again! UGH! I am inspired by you... I need to get rid of the junk and have things look clean and pretty like your home!
ReplyDeleteI think you have found the answer. Keep up the great job.
ReplyDeleteHello Cindy,
ReplyDeleteYou sure did have a great idea...the area looks perfect! I so need to cut out my clutter. Hope you are having a good weekend.
Blessings,
Linda
Gee, you call that clutter?! I'll take your clutter over mine anytime. I can't even see the wood on our dining table. However, you have inspired me to tidy up and try to get organized. We have a tiny entryway in our apartment. I have a wooden ladder leaning next to the door. I attached a small basket with velcro to one of the ladder steps so I could put keys and sunglasses in it. So far it's working for me. I love your idea for corraling your stuff. The mirrors are a great touch. You have a lovely home. And now you have given me cat-envy.

You are so tidy...now I have to think of a place to put my "stuff" rather than on the kitchen bar stool...hmmm.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right to narrow in on the clutter spot and try to figure out a solution. I need to do a bit of that myself.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to have you at Seasonal Sundays.

Perfect solution~looks great and I want your kitty!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cat and dog! The cabinet seems to be the solution to your clutter problem. The mirror above is great for that last minute check before you head out the door and the inside is big enough to hide a bunch.
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly found a very attractive solution to your clutter problem, now if mine were so simple~ I keep hoping!
ReplyDeleteI love your red check wt's, they are so pretty! I am about to make myself some new blinds, we'll see how they turn out.
Hugs, Cindy
A perfect solution!! Now if I could only find such a cute cabinet like yours :-)

What beautiful furry friends you have! That's a great solution to your clutter issue. It works and it's very attractive at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI love it, what a great idea! :)
ReplyDeleteKristi
Bella is so fluffy! You found the perfect solution! The wall next to the door was rather bare and looks so much better with the cupboard!
ReplyDeleteCindy, you found the perfect solution for your clutter. That little cupboard looks great there. The chest in the family room was perfect for that spot as well.
ReplyDeleteMy clutter spot is the bench in our entry way. I need to find a cupboard to put in that entry way to hide my clutter.
I am your newest follower.
I love this so much. The best part is that your purse is inside. I hang mine over the kitchen chair. Our spot is the dining table or the kitchen counter. That's right, we have two spots...LOL
ReplyDeletethank you for adding your wonderful blog to the Thursday Favorite Things hop. xo
Everything is sooo neat in your house. I am loving the idea, and Bella is gorgeous! - Visiting from the Thursday Favorite Things hop.
ReplyDeleteI know that I am way "off subject" but your red chairs have really taken my eye. Do you mind sharing where you bought them or did you buy the fabric for recovering? I'm trying to decide about recovering my sofa and I would love to have a red fabric that looks like that. Thanks

Love that little cabinet and you've found the perfect spot for it! I love being organized and getting rid of clutter! My husband...not so much! He leaves a trail as he comes in the door. LOL I just follow the trail and put things in their place! I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteStop by for a visit. Sandy @ Hob Nobbers
That's a wonderful cupboard to collect those things you need as you come and go - works beautifully - Bella reminds me of my dear cat I had a few years back - precious!
