WHAT'S THIS!

I used to carry primitive pieces in my shop, not so much these days.  Many years ago I purchased these two folk art friends from an artist in Oregon.
Here is the story the artist who crafted these shared with me...

This is Miss Polly.  She is a tiny little thing and lives in the deep South in an old white country house built in the late 1800's.  She still prefers candle light and the old water pump out back.  Her 2 acre garden keeps her busy and she tends to it all by herself!  Well, she does have some help from her friend from down the road ...they like to help each other every chance they get.  Miss Polly is good ole' simple folk and known for cookin' up a scrumptious mess of Thanksgiving turkey dinner.  Of course she is known for many other great goodies, like pumpkin pie made from fresh garden pumpkins, but she is especially proud of her turkey with all the fixin's that come fresh from her garden.  Thanksgiving is right around the corner so she is wearing her festive hand stitched turkey apron!

She's just picked a pumpkin from the garden.  Bet she'll be a bakin' any time now. Mmmm, pumpkin pie!

Now this sweet lady is Miss Polly's bestest friend.  Her name is Keziah Eulallia.

Keziah Eulallia lives down the road a spell from Miss Polly and they are of kindred spirit.  She lives in her own old country home and is known for her amazing fried chicken!  Don't look too closely at her "doo".  She's a bit of a mess cause chicken is for supper and she just got done from a catchin' one that didn't want to be caught!  She has a garden too and she and Miss Polly help each other every chance they get.  They share crops from the garden, milk from the goats, fresh baked pie and stories.  They are sweet, sweet friends!  Yep, every chance they get you'll find them together on one or the other's front porch just sittin' for a spell.  They'll be a rock'n, sippin' tea and reminiscing 'bout days gone by....

These flowers are in an old grain scoop...

Ellie-Mae just had to say hi to you so she popped in for the last picture.  She's so happy you stopped by so we could introduce you to Miss Polly and Keziah Eulallia.  Actually, she is extremely happy as today is her BIRTHDAY and she got a new toy.  Ellie-Mae is one year old today!

Love your sweet comments, sure am a hopin' you'll be leavin' one!

  7. Oh my, I had to laugh when I read your stories about your two country friends. I've never thought of having a 'story' behind their existence but can you imagine the look on the faces of little children when the stories are shared? I love it! And how did you come up with the name of the second country friend?!?
Oh, and your cabinet is to die for...I'm in love! :)
