Most every year we have birds nesting in the baskets on our front doors and often their nesting begins early so I have to wait a while before replacing the fall flowers with spring flowers.
It's true again this year, it's already May and I'm just now able to add some spring to these baskets. But the little birds finally flew away so I am anxious to get going...
Here is the nest...isn't it sweet!
Each nest is so different and I don't have the heart to throw them away, so I think I will keep this one here for now...
Now that the Fall flowers have been removed I needed something bright and cheerful, so I went to Michael's to see what I could find.
Considering there are two baskets to fill which can get expensive,
and the front of our house gets full sun most of the afternoon,
and that more of our feathered friends will be making this their home...
I wanted to keep it simple.
So I searched for the least expensive flowers I could find.
So I chose these white flowers...
and a few pinks...
Once I began putting the arrangements together, I remembered that I planted pink geraniums in the urns on the front porch, so I thought the arrangement might look best with just one color...so all white it is!
We like having double front doors and usually leave them closed...
But sometimes we open them to let the sunshine in...
The two baskets are full of beautiful flowers.
Turned out pretty good for forty-five dollars!
So happy you came to visit, I love hearing from YOU!
Blessings,
Cindy

ReplyDeleteCindy, Your front porch looks amazing!!! I can't believe you created those lovely hanging baskets at such a great price! I must say.... I am drooling all over your outdoor lights. They are pulling at my heart-strings :D Love them!
ReplyDeleteYour flower arrangements turned out gorgeous, Cindy! I'm really drawned to combinations of white and green - my two favorite colors. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I have quite a collection of birds' nests myself, from all around the farm. Besides the fact that they build them in quite unusual places, at times - like boots, lunchboxes, bird feeders, etc. - we get high winds that blow them out of the trees. I love seeing the unique materials they build them out of, so I just keep them to admire the handywork.
Thanks so much for joining the party each week. I love seeing your beautiful posts.

Seems birds always nest in the worst places, don't they? Thankfully, we did not find any nests this year. Not because we don't like them, but because with 2 dachshunds and all the wildlife around our house, baby birds stand no chance at our house.
ReplyDeleteI love wall baskets in place of wreaths, and your white flowers are perfect for your front doors!
I'm a "soft heart" for bird's nests, too! Your baskets turned out nicely - and the pencil sketch pics are especially fun! Happy Memorial Day to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, baskets and such a gorgeous doorway! Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your home is beautiful and your planters look lovely! Thanks for sharing at MM. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Cindy your home is lovely! Everything looks so welcoming and classic. The door baskets turned out great. I used to have double doors on my house...I had to do 2 of every wreath or basket. A few years ago we replaced them with a new single door with sidelights. I miss my old doors sometimes but I don't miss the drafts in winter! The old doors were not what you would call energy efficient! You should be very proud of your home...love the rockers. Have a great week...~Ann
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy! OH, your flower baskets look so pretty on your gorgeous doors! Your home looks so much like mine! We have the double glass door (without your gorgeous pediment), windows like you with white shutters. The window over your doors - our has a stained glass but we have the columns too!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Love the all white! Your baskets are beautiful and look great on the double front door! Janet

ReplyDeleteYour home is fabulous ! I love the double doors!! Your baskets are so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteCindy, LOVE the woven "twiggy" looking baskets and the white flowers. They look great against the front doors and so cool for summer. I don't blame you for not disturbing the bird's nest till the babies have gone. Nests are so neat and it always amazes me how the birds know just what to do to make it perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing your new door baskets. They certainly look more expensive than $45. Lovely post.
Have a great day,
Babs
