There is something special about an entry
with
an
with
an
all
wood
staircase.
It doesn't matter the number of steps...
Modest...
Grand...
All stained...
Risers painted white...
Lighter shades of stain...
Darker shades...
Old and well-worn...
Stained from top to bottom...
New
or
old
there is just something beautiful about an all wood staircase...
We have always wanted to have our carpeted staircase replaced
with Brazilian Cherry risers to match our floors
but having just added hardwoods to the great room
and the kitchen renovation at hand
it's not in the budget.
So why is the carpet peeled back on the first stair?
Soon the hardwood flooring will be installed in the kitchen
and once installed all of the hardwoods will be refinished
so it was
n o w
or
n e v e r
with jumping in and making the best of the staircase we do have.
So...
the carpet was removed
along with all the tack strips and staples...
Luckily the stair tread fronts were curved
however
the exposed ends on some are not...
So we have jumped in
and
are
going
to
see
what we can do with them!
(the bright pattern on the lower steps is the sunlight coming in through the front doors)
Hopefully I'll be revealing a pretty staircase soon!
Poor Ellie-Mae...
Thanks so much for coming by

Morning Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI am with you I love staircases and my favs are the white and stained ones, they are just such a nice contrast, but
they are all beautiful. You have your work cut out for you it seems, but bet you will be thrilled with the results.
Can't wait to see your new kitchen..............bet you are beyond excited for them to finish. lol
Oh and Happy Fall to you, and thanks for hosting Amaze me Monday, decided to come here instead of telling
you over there!! lol
Have a great day hon,
Blessings, Nellie
It will be gorgeous, Cindy!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! We will be doing the same thing soon. Mine have a ink stamp on them to sand out and they are not rounded, you lucked out! I know it is a mess, but it will add value and be WONDERFUL! xxx....Brooke
ReplyDeleteOh, lucky you!! This is what I want to do or rather have done.
ReplyDeleteI know it will be gorgeous when you get finished, but can't imagine the hassle of going through it all!
ReplyDeleteI'm all ready to be wowed. your home is going to look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteCindy- Wow - That is a big job but it will be wonderful once you are done. I love that you decided to go ahead and do it while you already have a mess going on. You will LOVE It when you are done. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou were so right! A wooden staircase makes a gorgeous entrance!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be so pretty! Your stairs appear to be real wood...I think ours have something less than real wood under the carpet. I desperately want the carpet gone.
ReplyDeleteHI Cindy! How pretty! I know this must have been a lot of work but it will really worth it and will be so pretty. Poor little doggy! :) Hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh my gosh that shot of Ellie-Mae is too cute!! Your stairs are going to look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou'll never be sorry you went for the wood staircase, Cindy! When our carpet upstairs was shot, we changed to hardwoods and actually removed the builder's grade stairs (which were plywood underneath) and had a whole new wooden staircase installed. We've never been sorry...worth every cent...looks so much better than carpet!!

Cindy I sure they will be beautiful! We ripped the carpet off our bottom three back in March. Still trying to figure out to DIY them. I almost just want to rip all of the carpet off and just leave the bottom three till last. They have funny angels. Ours are not bull nosed but that is ok to me. Thanx for sharing at tHT!
ReplyDeleteCarpet is nice, but I agree with you that there is something special about wood stairs. Like in the photos you show, there are so many options when it comes to making them beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWood staircases are just beautiful! I love all your inspiration pics! Once done, you're going to love them!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to pull up the carpets in my house!
